1 Charged In Connection With July Shooting In Silver Spring

A 40-year-old man was seriously injured in the July 28 shooting, police said.

SILVER SPRING, MD — A man is facing an attempted murder charge in connection with a shooting that occurred last month in Silver Spring.

Joseph Gordon, 35, was arrested Wednesday and charged with attempted first-degree murder, first-degree assault and multiple weapons counts following the July 28 shooting, Montgomery County police said in a statement.

According to police, officers responded to the 11400 block of Lockwood Drive in Silver Spring around 9:45 a.m. for a report of a shooting. When officers arrived, they found a 40-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound to the arm.

Officers provided aid to the victim until Montgomery County Fire and Rescue arrived and took him to an area hospital in serious condition.

Investigators later identified Gordon as the suspect in the shooting. According to police, there was an ongoing dispute between him and the victim.

Following his arrest, Gordon was taken to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit, where he is being held without bond.
