2 Dead After Peapod Truck Crashes Into Car In Silver Spring

The crash happened early Saturday morning at the intersection of New Hampshire Avenue and Northampton Drive.

SILVER SPRING, MD — Two people were killed in a crash in Silver Spring early Saturday morning when a truck crashed into a car, according to Montgomery County Police.

The crash happened around 5:45 a.m. at the intersection of New Hampshire Avenue and Northampton Drive.

Police say a Peapod Freightliner was going south on New Hampshire Avenue when it struck a Toyota Corolla that was making a left turn onto Northampton Drive.

The driver of the Corolla, identified only as an adult male, was killed at the scene, police said. A passenger in the car, identified as an adult female, was taken to a local hospital where she died from her injuries. A third passenger, an adult male, was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The identity of those killed and injured will be released after their family members have been notified.

The driver of the truck was not injured, police said.
