The man went to play some scratch offs, and ended up buying two $20 Lottery’s 21 Fast Play games.
“I was playing scratchers and something told me to buy two of the (Fast Play) Hit the Jackpots!,” said the father of one to the Maryland Lottery.

The first ticket wasn't a winner, but on the second ticket he saw the Congratulations and a "Progressive Jackpot" note. He had won $849,830 — that's the third-largest progressive jackpot in Maryland Lottery Fast Play history, the Lottery said.
The man, who lives in Washington, D.C., said he's giving the money to his mother, who said she might use it to buy cars for her sons.

The State Line Market will get a bonus of about $850, equivalent to 1 percent of the winner's prize.
