Friendly Visitor Volunteers Needed to Assist Seniors

The Friendly Visitor program of the Mental Health Association of Montgomery County is seeking
caring, nonjudgmental volunteers who are interested in visiting a physically frail, isolated, senior in the Silver Spring area.

These individuals live in their own home, apartment or group home.

Each volunteer is matched with one individual who s/he will visit weekly for at least one year. Both the volunteer’s and the senior’s life are enriched by sharing stories, ideas, and forging a unique friendship.

The next orientation training sessions are scheduled for February 15, March 14, and April 18, 2012, from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Volunteers need attend only one of these orientations, but must be interviewed and have submitted an application prior to attendance.
