Castle Boulevard Carjacker Hit With Bear Spray Under Arrest: Police

SILVER SPRING, MD — A man doused with bear spray as he unsuccessfully tried to break into a Silver Spring apartment faces carjacking and other charges for stealing a car as he and others fled the crime scene, authorities said.

Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police arrested Samuel Robert Bajard, 30, with no fixed address, for an attempted burglary and a carjacking that occurred on June 9 in the 14100 block of Castle Boulevard in Silver Spring. Police posted news of the arrest Monday in a press release.

Investigators said Bajard and other unknown suspects tried to enter an apartment by kicking the front door and throwing a rock through a window about 4:24 a.m. The resident confronted the suspects and doused them with bear spray. The suspects fled in an unknown vehicle.

As Bajard and the other suspects left the apartment complex, they assaulted the driver of a Toyota Camry who had just arrived home. The group stole the Camry and left the area.

On June 13, detectives obtained an arrest warrant against Bajard, charging him with attempted burglary and carjacking-related charges. He was arrested June 20 in Silver Spring and taken to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit, where he is being held without bond, police said in a news release.
