Country Market, 2 Vehicles Damaged In Possible Arson Fire In Silver Spring

A store and 2 vehicles sustained $30K damage in a fire, Montgomery County fire officials said. The blaze may have been intentionally set.

SILVER SPRING, MD — Two vehicles and a store sustained about $30,000 damage early Monday morning in a possible arson fire, according to Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services.

The fire was reported about 3:30 a.m. at Glenmont Shopping Center, 2200 block of Randolph Road at Country Boy Market.

Flames from the vehicle fire extended to the Country Boy building's awning, fire department spokesman Pete Piringer said on X. There was no fire damage inside the building.

Fire officials said they are investigating whether the blaze was intentionally set.

Piringer said a truck and a commercial van were likely intentionally set on fire, causing an estimated $10,000 damage, as well as another $20,000 in damage to the market building.

No injuries were reported, he said.

Authorities have not released any information about a possible suspect or motive in the case. The investigation continues.
