DC Man Charged In Fatal 2023 Metro Bus Shooting In Montgomery County

A Washington, D.C., man was charged Monday with murder in the shooting of a teen on a Metro Bus in Montgomery County more than a year ago.

WHITE OAK, MD — A Washington, D.C., man was charged Monday with murder in the shooting of a teen on a Metro Bus in Montgomery County more than a year ago, authorities said.

Trevon Hatcherson-Ross, 22, of Washington, D.C., was taken into custody in the shooting death of Justice T’Ziyan Elliott, 19, which occurred on a Metro Bus on Feb. 17, 2023, on Lockwood Drive in White Oak, a news release from Montgomery County Police said.

On the day of the shooting, officers on patrol in the Vista at White Oak apartments saw a WMATA Metro Bus pulled over on Lockwood Drive. The officers stopped to help and found a shooting had occurred inside the bus.

Officers attempted life-saving measures on the victim until Montgomery County Fire Rescue arrived. The victim, later identified as Justice T’Ziyan Elliott, was pronounced dead at the scene.

During the investigation, detectives identified Hatcherson-Ross as the suspect. An arrest warrant was obtained against him, charging him with first-degree murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and reckless endangerment related charges.

On June 14, Hatcherson-Ross was extradited from a detention center in Washington, D.C., to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit, where he is being held without bond, authorities said.
