Easter Sunday Shooting Suspect Caught With Help From Good Samaritan
Help from a good Samaritan led Montgomery County Police to arrest a man as the suspected gunman in a shooting on Easter Sunday.

SILVER SPRING, MD — Help from a good Samaritan led Montgomery County Police to arrest a man as the suspected gunman in a shooting on Easter Sunday in the 600 block of University Boulevard East in Silver Spring.
Isaias Orellana, 46, of Silver Spring was charged after he and a friend argued with the victim and a group of people, and were assaulted, a police news release said. In response, Orellana pulled out a handgun, hit a man in the head with the weapon, and fired several rounds as he was fled westbound on Piney Branch Road.
A Good Samaritan called the police after seeing Orellana in the parking lot of an apartment complex in the 8800 block of Piney Branch Road. Officers took Orellana into custody; his handgun was later found nearby.

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue personnel treated the victim for a head injury caused by being struck with the handgun.
Orellana’s friend, who police have not identified, suffered a cut to his head and was taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police said Orellana is being held without bond at the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit, on charges of second-degree assault, reckless endangerment, discharge of a gun in an urban area and other handgun charges.
