Hometown? Oakland, California

When did you move to Silver Spring? 2004

Where do you work?

For Montgomery County as an at-large Council member. My job is to represent about 1 million residents on the County Council where I make decisions about schools, transportation, environment, libraries and many other issues that affect our quality of life.

What's unique about this area?

A mix of different people who live in the community and the high quality of life that comes from the leafy neighborhoods, good restaurants, great schools and people.

What do you enjoy doing?

These days most of my fun is trying to entertain my 4-year-old and 1-year-old. We go to neighborhood parks for play dates. We go to Sligo Creek Park, downtown and to Butler’s Orchard. Most times we are racing around the house or in the neighborhood park.

What are you passionate about?

Government and making great decisions to help people have better lives. Maintaining the strong progressive tradition in Montgomery County and the great quality of life.

Favorite song?

I don’t have a favorite song but the kids are going crazy over Katy Perry. So, we play a lot of Katy Perry at the house.
