Male, Female Sought in Silver Spring Credit Card Scheme

Montgomery County police say surveillance photos could help explain how a Silver Spring resident wound up with $20,000 credit card bill.

Police said a stranger opened an account in the 35-year-old victim's name; the card was used to make fraudulent charges at stores in Beltsville, Laurel, Largo, MD.

Now, police are looking for a male and female whom they claim were caught on store security cameras using the card. On Monday, police released photographs of the alleged identity thieves with hopes the public could identify them.

Police said a male tried to use the card at a beauty supply store in Beltsville in July. When asked for an ID, the male showed a fake Washington, DC ID with the victim’s photograph and name.

Police said the same male made purchases with another female at Target stores in Laurel and in Largo earlier this month.
