Man Arrested In Connection With 2022 Homicide In Silver Spring

SILVER SPRING, MD — Authorities have arrested a man in connection with a 2022 homicide in Silver Spring, police announced Wednesday.

Jason Duane Moore, 47, was taken into custody and charged with first-degree murder, first- and second-degree assault and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony nearly three years after the death of 29-year-old Nathaniel Potts of Silver Spring, Montgomery County police said in a statement.

According to police, officers responded to the 8500 block of 16th Street shortly after 3 a.m. on Dec. 2, 2022, for a report of a shooting. When officers arrived, they found Potts in the parking lot, suffering from gunshot wounds.

Potts was taken to a hospital, where he later died.

Following an investigation, detectives identified Moore as a suspect in the shooting. A warrant for his arrest was issued on Monday, police said.

On Tuesday, members of the Montgomery County Police and the U.S. Marshals Task Force arrested Moore and took him to the Central Processing Unit.
