Man Faces Murder Charge In Silver Spring Shooting: Police

SILVER SPRING, MD — A 21-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred Thursday inside a Silver Spring home.

Andre R. Moore, of Silver Spring, has been charged with first-degree murder in Monday's shooting death of 40-year-old Michael Sutton, according to Montgomery County police.

The shooting took place in Sutton's home — located in the 900 block of Balmoral Drive — around 12:42 p.m. Responding officers said they found Sutton dead inside the home.

Upon further investigation, detectives identified Moore as the suspect and determined that he had fled the scene before police arrived. Authorities said Moore and Sutton lived in the same building.

Moore was arrested about a mile from Sutton's residence a short time later, according to police.

Sutton's body was taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore for an autopsy to determine the cause of death.

Moore is scheduled to appear in Montgomery County District Court on Feb. 12.
