Police ID Man Killed In Shooting In Silver Spring (patch.com) — Silver Spring residents are being urged to stay alert after a man was fatally shot Thursday evening near the Exxon gas station in the 3000 block of Briggs Chaney Road. Police identified the victim as 43-year-old Gavin St. Aubyn Boothe of Beltsville and say no suspect is in custody as the homicide investigation continues.

Woman charged in 85-year-old's death in August car crash (thebanner.com) — An 85-year-old Silver Spring resident died after an August crash on Randolph Road, and a 23-year-old Silver Spring woman now faces vehicular manslaughter and related charges. Police say she was weaving through rush-hour traffic at high speed before striking the victim’s SUV. She has been released on bond while the case proceeds.

Metro kicks off a busy year for track work across the system (wjla.com) — Silver Spring Metro riders should prepare for weekend delays and even trains skipping the Silver Spring station next weekend as Metro ramps up months of track work. After last weekend’s single tracking between Silver Spring and Forest Glen, riders across multiple lines will see closures, bus shuttles, and ongoing disruptions tied to safety upgrades and Purple Line construction.
