Police ID Man Killed In Shooting In Silver Spring (patch.com) — Silver Spring residents are being urged to stay alert after a man was fatally shot Thursday evening near the Exxon gas station in the 3000 block of Briggs Chaney Road. Police identified the victim as 43-year-old Gavin St. Aubyn Boothe of Beltsville and say no suspect is in custody as the homicide investigation continues.

Woman charged in 85-year-old's death in August car crash (thebanner.com) — An 85-year-old Silver Spring resident died after an August crash on Randolph Road, and a 23-year-old Silver Spring woman now faces vehicular manslaughter and related charges. Police say she was weaving through rush-hour traffic at high speed before striking the victim’s SUV. She has been released on bond while the case proceeds.
