Silver Spring Woman Charged In Fatal August Car Crash
The charges stem from an August crash that claimed the life of Josephine Maria Gieske of Silver Spring, police said.
SILVER SPRING, MD — A Silver Spring woman is facing charges in connection with an August crash that left one person dead, according to Montgomery County police.
Jesica Evelin Argueta turned herself in on Tuesday after an arrest warrant was issued, charging her with manslaughter by vehicle due to gross negligence and other related traffic offenses, police said in a statement.
According to police, the charges stem from a collision that occurred on Aug. 7 at the intersection of Randolph Road and Sherwood Forest Drive in Silver Spring. The crash involved a Toyota GR86 driven by Argueta, a Toyota 4Runner and a Buick Envista.

Police said Argueta was weaving through morning rush-hour traffic and traveling at speeds of nearly 85 miles per hour in a 40-mph zone before she crashed into the 4Runner. According to police, Argueta was driving nearly 67 miles per hour when the collision occurred.
The front-seat passenger of the 4Runner, Josephine Maria Gieske of Silver Spring, suffered serious injuries in the collision. On Aug. 22, Gieske died from her injuries. According to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, Gieske's cause of death was subdural hematoma and traumatic brain injury.

Argueta was arrested and later released on a $15,000 personal bond.
