Police Blotter: Summary of Crimes the Week of Feb. 28 to Mar. 8

Thefts from vehicles and one stolen car was a major part of police duty.

In the Montgomery County Police major crimes weekly summary for the downtown Silver Spring area, robberies and residential burglaries and theft from vehicles dominate the report. The crime report for the week of Feb. 28-Mar. 8. 22 is as follows: 

  • In downtown Silver Spring the crime activity varied in the Patch crime summaries map.
  • Wayne Avenue & Ramsey Avenue: An attempted strong-arm robbery occurred in the area on Sunday, Mar. 6 at 1:45 p.m. The adult male victim fought with one suspect who attempted to take personal property and during the scuffle a second suspect obtained property. All suspects fled on a Ride-on bus.  
  • 900 University Boulevard E.: An attempted residential burglary occurred in this block on Sunday, Mar. 6 between 2:30 a.m. and 2:34 a.m. There was an attempted unknown type of entry but no entry gained.  
  • 900 Heron Court: An attempted residential burglary occurred in this block on Friday, Mar. 4 between 8:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m. There was an attempted unknown type of entry but it was unsuccessful. 
  • 9800 Arbor Hill Drive: An attempted residential burglary occurred in this block on Thursday, Mar. 3 between 7:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. There was an attempted forced entry but no entry was gained.
  • 300 Crescendo Way, 1060 Mantz Road, 10500 Greenacres Drive, 600 Legato Way, 600 Concerto Lane, 200 Finale Terrace and the 2000 Edgewater Terrace: Multiple thefts from vehicles and a vehicle theftoccurred between Tuesday, Mar. 1 and Saturday, Mar. 5. Seven vehicles were broken into and one was stolen. Four of these incidents occurred between the late evening hours of Tuesday, Mar. 1 to the early morning hours of Wednesday, Mar. 2, and the others occurred during the late evening of Friday, Mar. 4 to early morning hours of Saturday, Mar. 5. Windows were broken in four of the thefts.  Property taken included laptops, cameras, and cash. The vehicle stolen was a 2000 Black Toyota Camry with Maryland tags.
