Police Blotter: Summary of Crimes the Week of May 16 to May 23

Robberies and aggravated assaults were a major part of police duty.

In the Montgomery County Police major crimes weekly summary for the downtown Silver Spring area robberies and residential burglaries dominate the report. The crime report for the week of May 16 to May 23 is as follows: 

  • In downtown Silver Spring the crime activity varied in the Patch crime summaries map. Scroll your mouse over the bubble to read the crime.
  • Thayer Avenue and Nolte Avenue: A robbery occurred in this area on Thursday, May 19 at 9:15 p.m. The victim was threatened and had property removed.
  • Fenton Street and Cameron Street: A robbery occurred in this  area on Monday, May 23 at 12:30 a.m. The suspects threatened the victim and obtained property.
  • Benbassat Spondis Engineering located on 905 Silver Spring Avenue: A commercial burglary occurred between 6:30 p.m. on Monday, May 16 and 7:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 17. A forced entry was attempted but nothing taken.
  • 16th Street and Spring Street: An armed robbery occurred in this area on Monday, May 23 at 9:00 p.m. The suspect threatened the victim with a weapon and obtained property. Police arrested a 21 year-old man.
  • 2100 Darcy Green Place: An aggravated assault occurred in this area on Friday, May 20 at 12:10 a.m. The suspect assaulted the victims. Police arrested a 14 year-old teen boy.
  • 9900 Markham Street: A residential burglary occurred in this area  on Saturday, May 21 at 12:36 p.m. There was an unknown means of entry and property taken.
  • 1000 Spring Street: A residential burglary occurred in this block on Saturday, May 21 at 1:56 p.m. There was an unknown means of entry and property taken.
  • 1200 Noyes Drive: A residential burglary occurred in this area on Saturday, May 21 between 6:50 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. There was a forced entry and property taken.
  • 9200 Long Branch Parkway: A residential burglary occurred in this area of Long Branch Parkway on Sunday, May 22 between 3:45 p.m. and 10:45 p.m. There was an unforced entry and property taken.
  • 700 University Boulevard: A robbery/assault occurred in this area on Wednesday, May 18 at 9:42 p.m. The adult male victim was assaulted and the suspects attempted to remove property. Police arrested three men ages 20, 18 and 19.
  • 8800 Glenville Road: An aggravated assault occurred in this block on Tuesday, May 17 at 12:54 p.m. The suspect assaulted the victim. Police arrested a 33 year-old man.
  • 8500 Piney Branch Road: An aggravated assault occurred at a bus stop in this area on Saturday, May 21 at 9:20 p.m. The victim was assaulted by the suspects.
  • 8600 Flower Avenue: An aggravated assault occurred in this block  on Sunday, May 22 at 5:30 p.m. The victim was assaulted by the suspects. The police arrested two men and a teen boy ages 20,20 and 16.
  • 8000 Carroll Avenue: A residential burglary occurred in this area on Sunday, May 22 at 10:55 a.m. There was an unknown means of entry and also unknown whether anything was taken.
  • 9200 Daleview Drive: A residential burglary occurred in this area between 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 19 and 12:00 a.m. on Friday, May 20. There was a forced entry and property removed.
