Silver Spring Teenager Killed, Suspect Arrested: Police

Authorities arrested Cardel Chaney, 20, in connection to the killing of Devin Dickey, 17, March 4. Both people are from Silver Spring.

SILVER SPRING, MD — A 17-year-old boy from Silver Spring died after he was shot near Georgia Avenue and Reedie Drive in Wheaton Friday night, Montgomery County Police said.

Officers responded to the call about a shooting around 6:45 p.m., and Devin Dickey was taken to a nearby hospital, where he died.

Authorities spoke with witnesses and got a physical description of the suspect.

They searched the area and arrested Cardel Chaney, a 20-year-old from Silver Spring. Police say Chaney matched the description of the suspect and surveillance footage from the Metro led them to believe he was connected to the shooting, a police news release says.

Chaney is being charged with second-degree murder.
