SILVER SPRING, MD — Authorities are searching for a person they say shot a teen while he was walking in Silver Spring.

According to Montgomery County police, the shooting happened around 11:55 p.m. Monday in the 13000 block of Chopin Court.

Police said two teenage males were walking on a footpath when a suspect approached, shot one of the teens and fled the area.

When officers arrived, they found the victim with a gunshot wound to his thigh. Officers provided medical assistance until paramedics arrived and took the teen to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Police did not release information about the potential suspect. The investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
