Theater Groups Teaming Up to Fill Round House Void in Silver Spring
The theater space on Colesville Road is owned by Montgomery County.
Round House Theatre has managed a county-owned space in downtown Silver Spring for nine years. Now the nonprofit theater company says it wants to end the arrangement, effective June 30, 2014.
The Gazette reports that a consortium of theater groups—Lumina Studio Theatre, ArtStream, Live Garra Theatre and Forum Theatre—is working on a management plan for when Round House leaves, while gathering community support.
The small theater at 8641 Colesville Road is prime space for arts and entertainment: right next door to the AFI Silver Theatre, across the street from The Fillmore, and about two blocks from the Silver Spring Metro station.

Bethesda-based Round House said in a news release at the end of June that it had planned to expand its productions in the Silver Spring theater, but that sharing the space with other arts groups made that goal too difficult.
