City Council to Discuss Takoma Langley Crossroads Sector Plan Tonight

There will also be a vote on traffic calming measures.

This week's Takoma Park City Council meeting's agenda isn't very long, but it's packed with interesting stuff. The meeting is at 7:30 at the at 7500 Maple Ave.

The council will vote on the installation of several traffic calming devices on Hilltop Road. Public Works Director Daryl Braithwaite and City Engineer Ali Khalilian met with neighborhood representative Giuseppe Cimmino to discuss possible traffic calming options and proposed several measures include a speed table near the Mississippi Avenue intersection and a raised crosswalk near the Geneva Avenue intersection. The project could cost around $10,000.

The city will also be voting on whether to endorse the community development block grants given out by the county. The CDBG program provides funding for  property acquisition, housing rehabilitation, commercial revitalization and human services. To qualify for CDBG funding, a project must provide direct benefit to low- and moderate-income (LMI) residents of Takoma Park or be located in and serve an area that is predominantly inhabited by LMI residents, the council agneda said.
