This wouldn't be important news for the Montgomery County/Takoma Park area expect that the U.S. Open is being held at Congressional Golf Course in Bethesda. 2. <a href="http://takomajunction.org/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">The Takoma Junction Task Force</a> held its bimonthly meeting last night at the Takoma Park Community Center and we'll have a report on it later today. 3. This one is a repeat from Monday, but that's because it's important. And we'll keep repeating it as the day gets closer. <a href="http://www.capitalcitycheesecakes.com/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Capital City Cheesecake </a>will be hosting artist nights every Thursday starting July 21. The nights will feature wine and a performer, writer or artist showcasing his or her work. Check back this week for a full story on CCC's plans. 4. For our Jewish readers (or anyone interested in world culture), Shavuot is started at nightfall June 7 and continues through today and tonight. The high holy day commemorates the anniversary of the day God gave the Torah to the Israelites. That's a pretty big deal. 5. There's another holiday today as well: <a href="http://www.holidayinsights.com/moreholidays/June/bestfriendday.htm" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Best Friend's Day</a>. So let your best friend know how much you love him or her.
