Patchers Shine In Baltimore Blast 'Celebrity' Half Time Game (VIDEO)
The Blast host the Rochester Lancers in Game One of the Eastern Division Finals this Saturday night.
It wasn't quite World Cup caliber soccer, but watching and playing in the annual Baltimore Blast Celebrity Half Time Game was nothing short of entertaining.
Patch editors Sean Welsh (Aberdeen and Havre de Grace), Kirsten Dize (Bel Air), Doug Donovan (Maryland) and myself Nick DiMarco (Lutherville-Timonium) contributed to a 4-0 whooping of familiar, local media personalities Friday night in Baltimore.
Three of four goals were scored by Patchers. Fox 45 reporter Joel D. Smith also contributed a sensational upper corner blast from outside the box—not bad considering we were pitted against professional lacrosse player Paul Rabil.Â

Highlights from the video above:
:10—I collected a lose ball and break past three players into open space for a wall-banked assist to my colleague Sean Welsh for the first goal of the game. (Yes, we worked it out ahead of time.) Then we were winded and played defense.

1:57—It takes three white team defenders to stop Rabil—the black team's biggest threat. Seriously. He's sponsored by Under Armour and if I'm not mistaken Red Bull because he's that good at lacrosse.
2:20—Welsh nets his second goal of the game. Assist to WNST's Glenn Clark.
3:45—Fox 45 reporter Joel D. Smith gets in on the action with a well-placed upper netter from distance.
5:07—105.7 The Fan's Jeremy Conn becomes confused as to which sport he's playing.
6:10—Patch senior regional editor Doug Donovan (my boss) suffers wicked carpet burn after taking an awesome tumble.
7:20—The 5 foot 5 inch Kirsten Dize, of Bel Air Patch, frustrates Rabil. Did I mention the dude could've easily fit into a Spartan army?
7:35—Donovan redeems himself with a little trickery in front of the net. He makes good on a ball crossing the goal mouth with a back heel flick for the fourth and final goal of the game.
