Towson Hot Bagels Expanding To Timonium

Owner Tony Scotto is eyeing a more family-style eatery in the Yorkridge Shopping Center.

The popular café and deli is planning a move to Timomium—eyeing a different demographic of patrons along the way, according to owner Tony Scotto.

“We know it’s close to the Towson store, but it’s going to be a whole different area,” Scotto said. “We’re planning to be more about taking care of families—a different target of people. We know that they’ll like our products, we just want to give them another opportunity and maybe one that is a little bit closer. It’s going to be a more family-style Towson Hot Bagels.”

The Timonium location will the be the larger than Towson Hot Bagels Canton and Towson stores—slated at 3,000 square feet. Scotto said he hopes to be open by the beginning of summer in the , near .

“We’re going to have booths, a large sitting and dining area ... the menu will be the same, but we’re adding an espresso bar,” Scotto said. “We’re going to make the place more comfortable.”

THB is following the same expansion as popular Towson-based eateries  like and Sushi Hana, which both opened stores in Timonium in recent years. Pasta Mista also has a shop in Canton.

So what does THB have that keeps college students and young urban professional who frequent the Towson location waiting in line, wrapped around the block?

“We’ve never changed our recipe,” Scotto said firmly. “It’s the same recipe that we brought from New York. It’s the same deli concept that came from New Jersey. We don’t want to change what the people like.

“We’re not doing anything creative,” he continued. “We don’t want to be a big chain. We want to stay local and we want to give the customer the same quality that they were getting 10 years ago.”

Scotto and his family have owned THB since 1999. He then opened a shop in Canton, before expanding the facility in Towson.

The Timonium store will employ 10 to 15 people, Scotto said.
