Baltimore County Public Library Rebrands Itself, Adds Tagline 'Be All In'
The new brand represents the fact that BCPL offers an array of services all under one roof: the library.

From BCPL: After nearly a year of planning, Baltimore County Public Library (BCPL) today introduced its new brand. The updated brand reflects both the library’s traditional resources – books – as well as the myriad of innovative programs and services that the library now offers.
BCPL’s new book-shaped “B” brand mark and tagline, “Be All In,” represents Baltimore County Public Library and its strengths: a collection of 11+ million items, innovative programs and services, and welcoming, inclusive and comfortable spaces. Additionally, a dynamic series of nine icons characterize the wide range of appealing experiences available at the library; icons range from adventurous and enlightened to fearless and connected.
The organization’s website, bcpl.info, was updated this morning along with BCPL’s Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube and Tumblr pages.

“While the Baltimore County Public Library legacy began in 1948, our role in the community has changed,” said BCPL director Paula Miller. “Today, our library is a safe zone, a civic center and technology hub, as well as a space for ideas and learning. There is no other place where you can get the same array of services and experiences so easily and conveniently and – more importantly – for free. Our new brand reflects today’s dynamic BCPL. We invite the community to Be All In with us!”
A Request for Proposal (RFP) was issued in February 2016 and multiple bids were submitted before BCPL opted to work with full-service marketing agency Red House Communications (Pittsburgh, PA). Red House worked closely with executive leadership and a library rebranding committee to build a brand identity that reflects Baltimore County Public Library’s core values and strategic plan.

“Red House developed the library’s new visual identity and tag line as both a promise and an invitation to explore the library’s vast resources,” said Gloria Blint, president and CEO of Red House Communications. The “B” in the logo reflects both the shape of a book and a window, establishing a visual connection with the library’s mission, the opportunities it offers and the greater Baltimore communities it serves.”
