A Family Affair Children's Center

We have a full preschool program serving children ages two through five years old. We use creative curriculum which is a theme based, teacher created curriculum. We have a music teacher who comes once a week and we take several field trips a year. Our 2’s and 3’s Program In our 2’s and 3’s room we focus on helping children master self-care tasks such as toilet-training and using cups and forks as well as building social skills. We also lay the foundation for future academic learning with the basics such as the alphabet, colors, and basic math skills such as patterns and counting. Our 4’s and 5’s Program Our 4’s and 5’s program focuses on Kindergarten readiness. We cover all developmental areas including literacy, math concepts, science, social skills, music, and art all couched within a fun and interactive theme such as “Animals” or “The Beach.” Learning activities related to each of those topics are done throughout the week. Before and After School Care We provide before and after school care for children who attend Pine Grove or Harford Hills Elementary. We are open when schools are closed. We do a variety of indoor and outdoor activities such as: ○ Table games ○ Crafts ○ Legos ○ Outdoor play We also offer homework help, a morning and afternoon snack. Children are picked up and dropped off from the center by the BCPS bus system. Summer Camp We offer a school age summer camp for Kindergarten—5th graders. The <a href="http://www.pikesvillerec.org/info/activities/program_details.aspx?ProgramID=28673" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Discovery Pre-K program</a> at Summit Park Elementary School will once again receive a one-year repreive. The program, which is run by the <a href="http://www.pikesvillerec.org/info/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Greater Pikesville Recreation Council</a>, is housed at a trailer owned by Baltimore County Public Schools at the <a href="https://pikesville.patch.com" rel="nofollow">Pikesville</a> elementary school. For years, school officials have been considering discontinuing the pre-K program so the trailer can be used for students at Summit Park, which is over capacity. On Tuesday, Superintendent S. Dallas Dance said the program would be safe through the 2013-14 school year. Officials had initially designated 2012-2013 as the transitional year before the program's fate was to be determined. "I want to be sure I fully understand the situation," said Dance, who started his tenure in July. Family members of students enrolled in the pre-K program, including one former Board of Education member, protested the program's possible removal at a Tuesday night board meeting.
