A Family Affair Children's Center

We have a full preschool program serving children ages two through five years old. We use creative curriculum which is a theme based, teacher created curriculum. We have a music teacher who comes once a week and we take several field trips a year. Our 2’s and 3’s Program In our 2’s and 3’s room we focus on helping children master self-care tasks such as toilet-training and using cups and forks as well as building social skills. We also lay the foundation for future academic learning with the basics such as the alphabet, colors, and basic math skills such as patterns and counting. Our 4’s and 5’s Program Our 4’s and 5’s program focuses on Kindergarten readiness. We cover all developmental areas including literacy, math concepts, science, social skills, music, and art all couched within a fun and interactive theme such as “Animals” or “The Beach.” Learning activities related to each of those topics are done throughout the week. Before and After School Care We provide before and after school care for children who attend Pine Grove or Harford Hills Elementary. We are open when schools are closed. We do a variety of indoor and outdoor activities such as: ○ Table games ○ Crafts ○ Legos ○ Outdoor play We also offer homework help, a morning and afternoon snack. Children are picked up and dropped off from the center by the BCPS bus system. Summer Camp We offer a school age summer camp for Kindergarten—5th graders. The school system is offering residents a chance to sound off on its more than 70 different magnet programs. According to a news release, Baltimore County Public Schools is hosting four community forums to gain feedback on the programs from students, parents, stakeholders and other interested parties. Specifically, the system is seeking information about why students enroll in the programs, how they can be improved and if students' needs are being met. Magnet programs provide a specialized curriculum that center around a specific academic realm. They are offered in 29 elementary, middle and high schools across the county. Students in Baltimore Country are typically selected for magnet school programs through random lottery. The forums will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on the following dates at the listed locations: <ul> <li>Loch Raven High School—Nov. 27</li> <li>Stemmers Run Middle School—Nov. 28</li> <li>Edmondson Heights Elementary School—Nov. 29</li> <li>Loch Raven High School—Dec. 3</li> </ul>
