Thursday Morning's (Anthony Weiner-Free) Bits and Pieces

A collection of politics-related odds and ends from around the county.

It's not that there aren't better things to write about. There are. I'll get to them — I promise.

Until then, consider this the sorbet between courses.

  • Del. Susan Aumann, a Timonium Republican, joins a growing list of state legislators who think the proposed toll increases are "outrageous."
  • On WBAL, Council Chairman John A. Olszewski Sr., a Dundalk Democrat, explains why he's supporting a referendum on a bill that would grant in-state tuition to illegal immigrants.
  • The debate over in-state tuition for illegal immigrants continues on my Facebook page. Kim Propeack, department director for Casa de Maryland, chastises some County to support the petition drive. "You really have to wonder about Dem legislators endorsing an obvious Republican turn-out tool in areas where, through the magic of redistricting, the party may really be struggling to elect someone. And I don't want to hear about how it's a bipartisan issue (or tri, i guess, if you count the teabaggers)," Propeack writes.
  • Donna Spicer, a Towson area community activist, says Democratic Councilman
  • Pizza Savant: That's what actor Chazz Palminteri called Sergio Vitale, co-owner of Aldo's Ristorante Italiano in Little Italy and a former GOP hopeful for the 7th District Senate seat when Andy Harris ran for the first time against Democrat Frank Kratovil. Palminteri, of A Bronx Tale fame, is teaming up with Vitale to open the first Chazz: A Bronx Original restaurant on Aliceanna Street. Hear Palminteri's WBAL interview.
  • And while we're labeling people, former county GOP Chairman Chris Cavey writes in his column at The Tentacle that Rep. Andy Harris is the Bill Gates of the state Republican Party. No, really, it's in there.
