BALTIMORE COUNTY, MD — Burlington will soon close its Security Square mall store and open a new location in Catonsville, The Baltimore Sun reported.
The Sun said the new Burlington will open this fall at 40 West Plaza on Baltimore National Pike. The exact closure and opening dates are unknown.
Formerly known as Burlington Coat Factory, the discount chain is a Fortune 500 company with net sales of $9.7 billion in fiscal year 2023.

The Baltimore County government is pushing to redevelop parts of Security Square, which was built in 1972.
Over 20 percent of the mall's 1 million square feet is vacant, a county report released last spring said. The mall's website says it has 100 tenants.
The county in 2022 acquired the former Sears building and bought another 12 acres at the mall in 2023.
The county suggested redeveloping the area to include:
- A greenway network of outdoor amenities that could provide spaces for people to walk and bike, as well as potential fields, public gardens, and other passive activities;
- Mixed-use opportunities that could include residential, workspaces, and expanded restaurant and retail offerings; and
- Entertainment and activity centers, including potential event spaces, recreational facilities and other potential community-focused uses.
Lawmakers already have $30 million dedicated to reinvigorating the property.
