County residents and businesses can now get important information through the county's newly enhanced emergency notification system.

The system is designed to allow residents to receive emails and recorded messages to their home or cellular phones.

“During dangerous weather situations and other emergencies, information is power. These area-specific emergency updates can help you keep your family safe,” County Executive Kevin Kamenetz said in a statement released Monday. “With our increasingly mobile society, I encourage all county residents to consider registering their cell phones with us so they can get emergency alerts whether they are at home or not.”

Residents can sign up for the notifications on the county's emergency preparedness website.

Information on emergencies can also be found on the county's Office of Emergency Management Twitter account and the county fire department Twitter account.
