Dr. Ted Houk, a Greater Baltimore Medical Center internist who was seriously injured after he was hit by an SUV in March while jogging, is recovering.
WBAL-TV reports that Houk recently sent an email to his patients stating that he in now receiving therapy at home and expects to return to work on Jan. 1.
Investigation showed that Houk was jogging southbound on N. Charles Street when he was struck by a northbound 2005 Toyota Rav4 driven by a 65-year-old woman, Baltimore County police said at the time. The woman had her turn signal on to indicate her intention to turn onto Chestnut Lane. He jogged into the traffic lane, in the way of her vehicle, as she drove past Boyce Avenue, according to police.
Houk is well-known locally for his long runs from his Lutherville home to work and his eccentric appearance. He typically runs shirtless while toting a briefcase-style bag filled with his scrubs, stethoscope, phone and at least a pound each of fruits and vegetables.
He is now able to walk up to half a mile a day, according to WBAL.
