Police say a 19-year-old man is in critical but stable condition at after an altercation with police in an apartment just north of the Baltimore City line.

The man, who police said was from the 21215 zip code in Northwest Baltimore, was arrested on a warrant for violation of a protection order, second-degree assault and resisting arrest. His name has not yet been released, pending a bail review hearing.

Police were first called to the apartment in the 500 block of Castle Drive at 10:45 p.m. on Sunday for reports of an assault, according to police spokeswoman Elise Armacost. A woman there told police she let her child's father visit, despite a protective order she had obtained against him on June 20.

According to police, the suspect continued to struggle and was finally placed under arrest when threatened with the use of a Taser.

The man was conscious after his arrest, but began to complain of head pain. According to the release, his condition "deteriorated after his arrival" at GBMC.
