Foose To Get More Than $1M Payout For Leaving HCPSS
For leaving her contract early, former Superintendent Renee Foose will reportedly receive more than $1 million in severance from the Howard County Public School System. Foose and the school board announced May 2 that she would be retiring.

Rare 'Superbug' Strikes Maryland Patient: CDC
A potentially dangerous "superbug" that is resistant to major treatments has infected a Maryland patient, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Sixty-one cases of "Candida auris," a multi-drug-resistant fungus that is emerging globally, have been identified in six states, with the most cases in New York, according to the agency.
The 2017 Havre de Grace municipal election drew hundreds to exercise their civic duties on Tuesday.
For the position of mayor, voters were asked to decide between current Mayor William Martin and his predecessor, Mayor Wayne Dougherty. According to The Aegis, Martin won "easily," with the unofficial results showing Martin with 1,523 and Dougherty with 874 votes.
Joppa-Magnolia Hit By Mother-Daughter Bingo Scheme
A woman and her daughter have been indicted on charges of stealing and embezzling from the Joppa-Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company, where the mother was a member in charge of bingo nights and the banquet hall, officials said. Carol Reprogel, 56, and her daughter Jessie Reprogel, 32, both of the 1500 block of Harford Square Drive in Edgewood, were taken into custody following a more than three-month investigation into misappropriation of funds from the fire company.
Oriole Adam Jones Says Red Sox Fans Racially Abused Him
Baltimore Orioles star outfielder Adam Jones said he was "called the 'N' word a handful of times" by Red Sox fans and had a bag of peanuts hurled at him in the Fenway Park outfield Monday night. Baltimore won, 5-2, in one of the worst efforts of the season from the Red Sox. But the most embarrassing part may have been what Jones alleged to have happened to him out in center field.
