Officer Hospitalized After Traffic Stop: Baltimore County Police

A driver was arrested and a police officer was hospitalized Tuesday night following an attempted traffic stop, officials said.

BALTIMORE COUNTY, MD — Police said an officer was hospitalized after a traffic stop went awry in Baltimore County Tuesday night, resulting in a crash and gunfire.

Authorities had ordered the driver to stop in the 6900 block of Blanche Road, but police said the driver instead rammed an officer's car with his SUV as he tried to leave the scene.

In an attempt to stop the driver, one member of the Baltimore County Police Department fired his weapon, police said.

One officer was hospitalized with injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening, officials said.
