OWINGS MILLS, MD — A Pennsylvania man will face Maryland charges after his mother's body was found in her car, the Baltimore County state's attorney's office told Patch on Monday.

Lancaster's WGAL reported Friday that 31-year-old Kevin Ahn will be charged with two counts of murder in the first degree and two counts of assault in the first degree. His last known address was Schuylkill Haven in Central Pennsylvania.

Harrisburg's FOX 43 said Kevin Ahn has already been charged with abusing the corpse of his mother, 61-year-old Hyun Ahn of Owings Mills.

The Lancaster County coroner ruled the death a homicide caused by strangulation and a traumatic brain injury, The Baltimore Sun reported.

FOX 43 said police and medics found the mother's body in a parked vehicle outside a home along the 100 block of Fruitville Pike in Penn Township on March 24.

Northern Lancaster County Regional Police Officer Sgt. Curtis Ochs testified to the Lancaster County District Attorney's Office.

Ochs reported that the victim's body was covered in "garbage," including boxes, fast food wrappers and a shoe, FOX 43 said. WGAL said the victim, who owned the white SUV in which she was found, had McDonald's wrappers on her.

FOX43 added that an autopsy determined that the victim died around 30 to 40 hours before being discovered and had been in the vehicle for just as long.

The Sun said Pennsylvania police were dispatched to the home of Kevin Ahn's estranged sister for a "suspicious incident." The Sun reported that the sister told police Kevin Ahn, who isn't welcome at her residence, arrived driving their mother's 2022 Toyota RAV4 and was "acting weird."

The Sun stated that the sister and her husband confronted Kevin Ahn outside near the car, where they saw "an unresponsive person positioned across the rear seat and floor of the vehicle, partially covered in household goods." The Sun reported that the sister and her husband questioned Kevin Ahn, and he ran away, leading the couple to call the police.

The Sun said police found the suspect running in nearby Manheim Borough, detained him and took him to Lancaster County Prison, where police said he was held without bail.

Kevin Ahn "is currently awaiting to be extradited and has not been formally charged at this time," Baltimore County Police Department spokesperson Trae Corbin told Patch in a Monday email.

Baltimore County Deputy State's Attorney Lisa Dever said the extradition process "could take a few weeks."

"Mr. Ahn is being held in Pennsylvania. We have charged him with crimes here in Maryland but he has not yet been served on the arrest warrant," Dever told Patch in a Monday email. "Once he is back in Maryland and served with all the paperwork then the documents will be made public. Until that time we cannot talk about the charges. I am sorry I cannot provide any more information at this time."
