State Office Staying Put For Now

Despite the leasing signs outside the former Towson police precinct, the state Department of Juvenile Services office there may not be moving.

Don't be spooked by the signs out front. A state office in a historic Towson building has no immediate plans to move.

Jay Cleary, a spokesman for the Department of Juvenile Services, says the department is in the middle of a typical end-of lease evaluation process as it puts out requests for proposals.

"We have not made any final decisions regarding he Towson office lease yet," he said.

The building at 308 Washington Avenue once served as the Towson police precinct, until the police moved to a new building around the corner on Susquehanna Avenue in 2001. The state leases the building from a private owner, Towson Station LLC, who bought it from Baltimore County in 2001 for $335,000, according to state property records.
