Towson Police Captain Reassigned to Woodlawn Precinct

Jonathan Trentzsch, a nearly 30-year veteran of the Baltimore County Police Department, assumed command of the Towson precinct in December 2011.

After less than two years, the Towson police precinct is already saying goodbye to Capt. Jonathan Trentzsch.

On Monday, Trentzsch, who took over the helm at Towson in December 2011, was reassigned to lead the Woodlawn precinct, according to a news release from the Baltimore County Police Department. The shift was one of several announced by Police Chief Jim Johnson, though no reason was provided for the moves.

Trentzsch has been a member of the department for nearly 30 years. He took over as the Towson captain from Al Jones, who was promoted to major and assigned as the new commander for the Eastern Patrol Division.

Towson has historically had one of the lowest crime rates in the county, though it was the only precinct to see a rise in the last year. At a recent news conference, Johnson blamed an increase in thefts for the higher figures.

County Executive Kevin Kamenetz also announced plans to add three new officers to the precinct as well as three Segway-style patrol vehicles.
