
Giant Food of Landover will donate nearly $1.2 million to 1,270 Maryland schools this year as part of its A+ School Rewards Program.
Mater Dei School in Bethesda will receive $26,771.23, the highest award donated to a Maryland school this year. The school plans to use the funds to buy new computers for their library.
In Prince George’s County, St. Pius X Regional School in Bowie will receive the most funding, earning $10,024.26 from the program.

Every time shoppers purchase groceries using a Giant card, they can select up to two schools to receive points from the program. The points translate to funds that Giant will award to the schools.
Since the program began in 1989, more than $88 million has been raised for schools in the mid-Atlantic region. This year $2 million will be allocated to schools in Maryland, Delaware, Virginia and Washington DC.
