Motorcyclist Killed When Bike Crashes Into Semi: Police
A Prince George's County man was killed Saturday when he crashed into a semi that was stopped at a traffic light.
PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — A 40-year-old District Heights man driving a black Harley Davidson motorcycle lost control of his bike Saturday and hit a white Volvo tractor-trailer. Wayne Butler, Jr., was pronounced dead on the scene.
A preliminary investigation revealed that the crash occurred shortly after 11:30 p.m. on southbound Route 4 north of Dowerhouse Road. According to State Police, Butler appears to have lost control of his motorcycle and hit the semi, which was stopped in the travel portion of lane three waiting for the traffic light to change.
The southbound lanes of Route 4 were closed for approximately three hours for the crash investigation. Investigators believe speed may have been a contributing factor in the crash, a report indicated.
