PG Sinkhole Swallows Car After Water Main Break
Another car teetered on the edge of the sinkhole, and 77 residents were without water while crews worked to fix the damage.

A 12-inch water main break in the 4800 block of Edmonston Road in Bladensburg early Tuesday morning not only left 77 customers without water, the sinkhole it formed swallowed a car.
The 90-year-old pipe broke at about 3:30 a.m., causing a large sinkhole that filled with water, according to the WSSC. The large sinkhole swallowed one car and left another one teetering on the edge.
Crews worked for four hours to close the necessary valves and stop the flow of water. By 1:30 p.m., both vehicles had been removed, and crews had replaced about 15 feet of pipe, returning service to the residents affected by the incident.
