Pr. George's Cooling Centers Remain Open This Week

While area residents experience another dangerous heat wave, the county continues to operate cooling centers.

 

Prince George's County will continue to operate its cooling centers this week as another heat wave endangers those without air-conditioning and with health issues.

In addition to Prince George's County Memorial Library System locations acting as unofficial cooling centers, along with movie theaters, malls, and coffee shops blasting air-conditioning, the county will offer refuge at the following locations.

Cooling Center for Senior Citizens from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.:

  • Camp Springs Senior Activity Center, 6420 Allentown Road, Camp Springs, MD

Cooling Centers open for the General Public at the following County locations and hours: from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.

  • Rollingcrest-Chillum Community Center, 6120 Sargent Road, Chillum 
  • Suitland Community Center, 5600 Regency Lane, Forestville, MD 20747
  • Oakcrest Community Center, 1300 Capitol Heights Boulevard, Capitol Heights
  • Fairland Sports and Aquatics Center, 13820 and 13950 Old Gunpowder Road, Laurel
  • Palmer Park Community Center, 7720 Barlowe Road, Landover

County residents can also use the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission’s recreational pools.
