Prince George's County Fair: Gymkhana Games, Beautiful Babies, Pig Races

Savor one last bite of summertime starting Thursday.

Still cannot believe the summer is over?

Well, taste one last bite of summer at the Prince George's County Fair.

Get ready for carnival rides, fair food and contests starting on Thursday, Sept. 5 at 4 p.m.

But, what's even more unique about the Prince George's County Fair -- it's the oldest running fair in Maryland. It was established in 1842.

The fair will run through Sunday. Visitors can experience pony rides, race cars, watch pig races, enter the beautiful baby contest, go to the petting zoo, listen to The Fabulous Hubcaps and sing karaoke. Check out the full schedule on the fair website.

The fair schedule is as follows:

  • Thursday, Sept. 5 -- 4 p.m. to 11 p.m.
  • Friday, Sept. 6 -- 5 p.m. to 11 p.m.
  • Saturday, Sept. 7 -- 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.
  • Sunday, Sept. 8 -- 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
On Sunday, the fair is hosting "Military Appreciation Day." This means all active duty military and their families will be admitted to the fair for free. More info can be found at Military Day.

Admission is $6 for ages 12 and over, $5 for ages 6-12 and free for children under 5.

The fair will be at the Prince George's Equestrian Center and the Show Place Arena, near the intersection of Pennsyvania Avenue (MD Route 4) and US Route 301 in Upper Marlboro, Maryland.
