Driver Flees After Fatally Striking Pedestrian In Wheaton
Authorities are searching for the driver following the Tuesday hit-and-run, according to Montgomery County police.
WHEATON, MD — Montgomery County police are searching for a person they say fatally struck a pedestrian with their car before leaving the scene of the crash.
Police said the incident occurred shortly before 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the area of eastbound Veirs Mill Road at Ennalls Avenue in Wheaton.
Montgomery County police officers and fire and rescue personnel responded to the location after receiving a call about a pedestrian struck by a vehicle. The vehicle left the scene before the officers arrived, police said.

Responders found a 52-year-old female pedestrian in the roadway with critical injuries. She was taken to an area hospital, where she later died of her injuries.
Investigators later learned that the pedestrian was struck by an eastbound vehicle. Detectives believe the suspect vehicle is a silver 2009–2012 Audi A4 or S4. The car is believed to have damage to the windshield and the right front fog light assembly. Additional evidence points to damage to the left front headlight assembly, with the headlight possibly hanging, and the passenger-side fog light assembly missing.
