Figure Skating, Ice Hockey Clinics At MoCo Parks Ice Arena Open House
Montgomery Parks is holding an open house at the Wheaton Ice Arena on Sept. 17, where visitors will get a chance to try out ice sports.
WHEATON, MD — Montgomery Parks is holding an open house at the Wheaton Ice Arena on Sept. 17, where visitors will get a chance to learn and try out hockey, speed skating and figure skating.
Visitors will get to meet clubs that operate at Wheaton Ice Arena, get information on group lessons, birthday parties, camps and clinics. There will also be sign-up specials for lessons, clinics and other events at the open house.
“The open house is a great opportunity for members of the community to learn about, and experience ice skating and ice sports” Kimberley Ransfield, Wheaton Ice Arena facility manager, said in a statement. “There will be lots of information available for those looking to join a team or club, or who are interested in taking group lessons.”

The open house will take place on Sunday, Sept. 17 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. The open house is free, but there is a $4 per-person fee to skate, which includes skate rental. Registration is required for skating activities.

- 9:15 a.m. to 9:45 a.m.: Try ice skating
- 9:30 a.m. to 10 a.m.: Try ice hockey
- 9:45 a.m. to 10:15 a.m.: Try speed skating
- 10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.: Try ice skating
Participants can also skate in the public skating session for half price from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Wheaton Ice Arena is located 11717 Orebaugh Avenue in Wheaton.
