Ex-Boyfriend Arrested In Woman's Death In Wheaton: Police

The ex-boyfriend of a woman who was shot to death Sunday has been taken into custody, according to authorities.

Officers were dispatched shortly before 8:30 a.m. to the scene in the 1700 block of Imperial Drive, and police said in a social media post around 10:30 a.m. that they were investigating the case as a homicide.

WHEATON, MD — The ex-boyfriend of a homicide victim was taken into custody after a police chase and crash following the shooting in Wheaton, Montgomery County Police said.

Officers were dispatched shortly before 8:30 a.m. Sunday to the scene in the 1700 block of Imperial Drive, and police said in a social media post around 10:30 a.m. that they were investigating the case as a homicide.

Police found the suspect, who was not identified, leading to a pursuit that ended in a crash and in the person being taken into custody, according to authorities.

Authorities have not released the name of the 47-year-old woman who was killed in the 1700 block of Imperial Drive.

According to a preliminary investigation, police said the woman was shot multiple times by her ex-boyfriend, who fled the scene, WTOP reported. Officers found the suspect driving near Horizon Place in Derwood, which led to a chase.

The suspect’s vehicle rolled over, and he was taken into custody following the crash and taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
