New Editor Takes the Helm at Wheaton Patch
Esther French grew up in Colesville and graduated from the University of Maryland.

Wheaton holds some great childhood memories for me. I remember careening down those monster slides at Wheaton Regional Park and racing back up the stairs to do it again, squealing with joy. I’ve always lived close to Wheaton, but I think that I tended to underestimate it when I was growing up. Wheaton was rarely a destination for me in my college years—just another stop I passed on the Red Line.
I was wrong.
Not to be disloyal to my hometown of Colesville, but Wheaton is the next big thing in Montgomery County. I firmly believe it, and I’m excited about being here along the way to drive conversations about how Wheaton can improve and grow. I want the Wheaton Patch to be the place where we can talk about the things that affect our lives today and that will someday affect the lives of the next generation. Let’s chat about what’s going on right here in our own backyards.

I know many of you had built a relationship with Taylor Kate Brown, the previous Wheaton Patch editor. It may take some time, but I’m committed to strengthening our news coverage so that Wheaton Patch is once again your go-to source for stories about redevelopment updates, cultural events, local restaurants and more.
I can’t do it without you, though. Your comments and feedback will let me know about the issues you care most about so that I can do more in-depth reporting on them. I hope to have the privilege of meeting you in person soon, so we can talk about your ideas, hopes and concerns about what’s going on in Wheaton. Always feel free to e-mail me at esther.french@patch.com or call me at 301-332-8835. And if you want to stay connected with me on social media, consider joining the Wheaton Patch Facebook page or following @WheatonMdPatch on Twitter.
