Colesville Road Now Open in Both Directions
Montgomery County Police closed a stretch of Route 29 Tuesday morning to investigate an accident involving a police officer.
Update, 9:55 a.m. The Maryland State Highway Administration just reported on Twitter that Colesville Road is now open in both directions between the Capital Beltway and Sligo Creek Parkway.
Update, 9 a.m. Montgomery County Police officials are currently on the scene investigating the cause of a two-car accident involving a police officer on Colesville Road, said Rebecca Innocenti, a spokeswoman for Montgomery County Police.
Around midnight, Montgomery County Police and Fire officials arrived on the scene and had to use machinery to extract the police officer and two other people out of their cars, said Capt. Oscar Garcia, a spokesman for Montgomery County Fire and Rescue.

The procedure took about 15 minutes, he added.
They all had to be transported to the hospital for serious but non-life threatening injuries.

Original story, 7:29 a.m. Colesville Road from the Beltway to Sligo Creek Parkway is closed Tuesday morning, according to an alert from the Montgomery County Police.
Both sides of the road are closed to traffic.
WTOP is reporting that the closure is due to an investigation into a collision involving a police officer and two people in another car that occurred around midnight when the officer was responding to a call.
The officer and two other people were taken to the hospital, with non-life-threatening injuries.
Commuters should expect delays in the area.
