Metro Installing Modernized Bus Shelters Across Multiple Stations (mocoshow.com) — Wheaton Metro riders can expect modernized bus shelters as WMATA’s replacement project expands to the Wheaton station, alongside Medical Center, Grosvenor, Glenmont, and New Carrollton. Nearly 200 new shelters systemwide will feature better lighting, accessibility, and weather protection, though some bus stops and Kiss and Ride areas may shift temporarily during construction.

3. How Maryland teen filmmakers are preserving history beyond textbooks (wusa9.com) — Wheaton High School students are learning filmmaking while preserving neighbors’ untold stories through the Village Reels project. Working with local nonprofit Docs in Progress, they’re documenting everyday Montgomery County residents, including longtime Wheaton history teacher David Shaffner, to show how personal memories help keep community history alive beyond textbooks.

4. ICE Raids Drive Cancellation of Hispanic Events as ‘Deportation Terror' Spreads (dcreport.org) — A Hispanic Heritage Festival in Wheaton was among several Latino cultural events nationwide cancelled over fears of ICE raids under the second Trump administration. The story explores how this climate of “deportation terror” affects immigrant communities’ safety, public celebrations, and economic life, while also highlighting ongoing resilience and organizing strategies.
