Police Called To Kennedy High School After Gun Reported On Campus

The Montgomery County Police Department said the school was locked down after authorities received a call about a weapon.

WHEATON, MD — Authorities briefly placed a Montgomery County high school on lockdown on Wednesday after a gun was reported on campus, according to police.

Authorities responded to Kennedy High School in Wheaton after receiving a call about the possible weapon, according to a Montgomery County Police Department social media post shared at 12:15 p.m.

When police arrived, no gun was located, authorities said.

The school was placed on lockdown shortly after police were called. Just before 1 p.m., the lockdown was lifted as officers worked to clear the building. The school was then placed in a hold status, which required students and staff to remain in their classrooms or designated areas.
