Police Release Photos To Help Identify Man Found Dead In Wheaton Park
In an effort to advance the investigation, detectives released photographs of clothes and belongings recovered from the victim's body.

WHEATON, MD — Two weeks after a body was found in Wheaton Regional Park, detectives are still working to identify the homicide victim. The man could have died as long as nine months ago, police said. In an effort to advance the investigation, detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department released photographs Friday of a victim's personal items recovered from his body, found in Wheaton Regional Park Tuesday, Sept. 5.
The man's body was located at 11715 Orebaugh Ave. in Wheaton, police said. There was trauma to the body and the Medical Examiner's office in Baltimore has ruled the manner of death a homicide. Detectives think the victim may have been killed between December 2016 and March 2017,.
At this time, detectives believe the victim was a Hispanic male, who was approximately 5’2″ tall and weighed approximately 126 pounds. He had short, dark brown hair and a missing lower tooth that may have been evident when he spoke or smiled.

He was possibly from Annapolis, police said. He was wearing a men’s size large, gray sweatshirt, with the words, “First United Methodist Church Laurel” written on the left chest of the sweatshirt.

Police released the following photographs of his sweatshirt:



Under the sweatshirt he was wearing a men’s size large, gray, hooded, long-sleeve American Eagle shirt, police said. He was also wearing men’s size medium, black Adam Levine sweatpants. Under the sweatpants he was wearing men's size large blue, athletic shorts with the number "19" on the left side of the shorts, police said.
The two photographs include the actual shorts that he was wearing and a depiction of how they may have appeared before his death (see photos):

This remains an ongoing investigation, police said. Additional information will be released as its confirmed.
Just a day later, a man's body was found by a hiker in the Long Branch Stream Valley Park in Silver Spring Wednesday, Sept. 6. The man has been identified as Cristopher Alfredo Funes Guerra, 20, of Silver Spring. Guerra's family reported him as missing on Sept. 3, police said.
The Montgomery County State’s Attorney’s Office confirmed Thursday that these two men died as a result of gang activity, first reported by Bethesda Beat.
State’s Attorney John McCarthy said the body located in Wheaton Regional Park had been decapitated and dismembered.
“I will tell you, you know when something is a gang killing,” McCarthy told Bethesda Beat. “These are horrible crimes.”
