MASSACHUSETTS — Massachusetts is full of bright, driven young people making a difference in and out of the classroom. That's why Patch and T-Mobile have teamed up to spotlight students excelling in academics, athletics and community service.

cappella group Pitch, Please, which competed at the Northeast quarterfinals of the International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella competition at the Berklee Performance Center in Boston. A sophomore at Emerson College, Curtis was joined by Siri Boyalakuntla, Chloe Cohen, Bethany Davies, Kiki Deutschmann, Gabriella Federighi, Stefanie Feliciano, Maddy Krempler, Sophie Langton, Jamie Leahy, Oli Leto, Lina Mai, Julia Marino, Mia Martin, Ava Mastroianni, Olivia Materetsky, Sofia Noyes, Briana San Phillips and Prgna Shashidhar. Alex Donnelly (Newton) — The 19-year-old college student established his social media campaign in January, which includes various resources for the victims of the blazes. It has been shared with more than 250,000 people since its launch. The platform’s software includes functions that provide up-to-date information on things such as shelters, food banks, fire locations, news updates, emergency and recovery information, and financial assistance. Sophia Fiandaca (Maynard) — While studying at a four-year university, Fiandaca realized she had a passion for criminal justice. Based on the strong reputation for the college’s criminal and social justice program, she transferred to Middlesex Community College to pursue the field. At Middlesex, Fiandaca is finding success in her future career through access to hands-on learning opportunities, free support services, and a guided pathway. Read more here.

Thomas Blake Middle School students (Medfield) — Nearly two dozen students volunteered to help orchestrate the blood drive, from planning to implementation. More than 100 donors gave 102 pints of blood on Jan. 20, a new record for the Thomas Blake Middle School Blood Drive. Past volunteers, now high school students, continued the tradition of returning to Blake to help the blood drive run smoothly. Read more here.

Angelo Ferreira (Wayland) — When he crosses the finish line at Copley Square, Ferreira won't just be completing his first-ever marathon. He'll also be raising money for Massachusetts' homeless population. The 23-year-old Fordham student, currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in finance, grew up in Wayland. His family, including his twin brother and sister, have deep ties to community advocacy. Read more here.
